Lesson 3: Over-communicate like a two year old

Who said parents-to-kids knowledge transfer is a one way-street?! There is plenty we can learn from these joyful ankle-biters!

When my daughter learns a new phrase, be ready to hear it 50 times in the next 24 hours.

Well, my goal for the next year is to take her communication methodology and use it within my team.

In the past year I had countless situations, when I said/wrote something mightily important to the team, yet – no result.

Nothing wrong with the team, it’s just saying once is rarely enough. And twice isn’t enough either.

If you want to get a very important point across (strategy, shift in operational cadence, new metrics, different focus) – you need to say it over, and over, and over, and over, and over (and you get the point) again.

Only when you are sick and tired of it yourself, only when you have a feeling everyone thinks you are a nutcase and losing your bearings – will everyone finally get the message.

Until then – think of it as if your message had fallen on deaf ears.
