What I Read When I’m Running Vol. 2

Scroll

Continuing on with my tradition of publishing what I read when I run, here is Vol. 2 of this – hopefully long-lasting – epic.

In 2017/2018 I took 6,658,330 steps (18,242 a day on average) and read & listened to 53 books (mostly listened).

Lo and behold – this year I took even more steps – 7,714,597 from 2 September 2018 to 1 September 2019 (21,136 steps per day on average).

However, I only read (mostly listened) 43 books.

What’s the catch? The catch is – I got hooked on The Great Courses series (the best of the best college-level courses on everything you need to know about staying healthy, wealthy and wise). These courses are very long and normally I could finish 5-10 books in the same time it takes me to finish one Great Course. But these courses are definitely worth it!

This year, instead of listing all the books I’ve read in a random or chronological order, I’ve split them into three main categories. As many of you know, I have a very simple approach to life – unless something makes our world (and me) healthier, wealthier or wiser, I don’t do it. If it does – I do it… and then it’s just a question of making sure I do it in moderation.

That’s why I don’t do social media, watch the telly or read the news – they don’t fit within my “healthy, wealthy & wise” approach. However, making the world a better place, spending time with my loved ones, reading a lot, running marathons and drinking wine do 😉

This kind of categorisation will hopefully give you a much better idea of what made me tick last year.

P.S. And, of course, once my daughter discovered what Gruffalo Crumble is, I must have read and listened to The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson about 300 times! May be more!
