Exposure: Lives at Sea – New Museum Exhibition

National Maritime Museum, Royal Museums Greenwich: Daily from 17 May

Brief:

Showcasing the life of those who work at sea through a series of photographs, this brand new exhibit launches on 17 May for everyone to explore for free.

Explore how maritime workers really live their lives to provide us with food, energy and transportation in a light that we’ve never seen before. Featuring photography taken around the world from the mysteries of Mexico to the cold waves of Antarctica, you’ll be sure to learn a lot about life at sea.

From photographs exploring the vessels to maritime photography from within the ocean itself, the shots here are not just impressive and inspiring but are educative on the world of seafarers.

Seaside: Photographed – Touring Exhibition

Brief:

Interested in a bit of seaside history? This major touring exhibition documents the relationship between photography and the British seaside from the 1950s to the present. 

Explore seaside work from respected photographers including Jane Brown, Henri Cartier Bresson, Vanley Burke, Anna Fox, Susan Hiller, Paul Nash, Martin Parr and Ingrid Pollard, as well as unknown work from across photography’s history.

Belfast Photo Festival – Contest Exhibition

The competition closure means just one thing: the Belfast Photo Festival is almost upon us.

Chock full of the best work from up and coming photographers, the photo festival is a celebration of the art of modern photography. One of the events in the entire world, you’d be a fool to miss the unveiling of this year’s stars and winners. This is the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and maybe grab some inspiration for next year’s contest!

Alfred Watkins – Museum & Art Gallery Exhibition

Hereford Museum & Art Gallery: 19 June – 10 July

Brief:

A celebration of Alfred Watkins. 

Victorian photographer Watkins is known for his invention of the exposure meter among many other things from other fields. While his legacy is somewhat disputed by historians, his impact on the field of photography was exceptional.

Videography with Adobe Premier – Online Workshop

Brief:

Learn to edit videos with industry-standard post-production software for video: Adobe Premier.

In our current time filled with uncertainty as to whether or not an event will go forward, this free and online event is very welcome. As part of Digital Advantage, a programme offering free business support and training, you’ll learn to import footage, create sequences, add titles, add captions, adjust audio and export your videos, as well as editing videos for colour gradients and adjusting sound and import graphics.

Bristol Photo Festival Film Programme

Watershed Cinemas: June – October (TBC)

Brief:

One of the more interesting events, the film programme will show a series of screenings which explore the creative relationship between photo and video.

Featuring work from cinematographers Ed Lachman, Hélène Louvart and Seamus McGarvey, this exhibition will examine photographic influences and inspirations on video and how it is incorporated into filmmaking.
