A.F.C. Bournemouth is a professional association football club based in Bournemouth, Dorset, that plays in the Premier League, the top tier of the English football league system. Their first team has played against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

 

AIMS

A.F.C. Bournemouth’s Marketing and Commercial Director, Rob Michel enlisted the help of Splento to capture supporters at their first team’s match against Aston Villa. The idea was to give fans something extra and to add value to their experience by giving them something to remember the day by. Although the club has regular photos produced of the football game in action, they not often have photos of the moments before and after matches to showcase their popularity with fans. The aims were to build brand awareness, increase attendee engagement and nurture customer relationships.

 

EXECUTION

We provided both bespoke group portraits outside Vitality Stadium, making sure to include the logo in the background wherever possible and then some natural, candid shots of fans making their way into the grounds. We shot as many fans as possible; families, individuals, and groups, producing over 900 photos in total. 570 of these were ‘general view’ shots of the players, crowd, logos, stadium and other focus points. These were taken with the aim of capturing the atmosphere of the day and to showcase the club’s popularity with fans. We uploaded them to a shared online gallery, which could be accessed and shared by the marketing and PR teams, press, organisers and fans.

We uploaded the photos to each supporter’s own individual online gallery for them to use at no extra cost. These galleries are designed to make it quick and easy to view, download or share the photos, ideal for building brand awareness. All the photos were delivered in 48 hours and in larger print size so that anyone who wanted to use the photos could use print them as large as they like.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS

We had over 500 unique visitors to our online galleries. Just over 30% of these visitors shared their photos on social media, increasing brand awareness and online engagement. 87% of visitors downloaded photos to keep as a memento of the day, improving customer experience. More than 40,900 of our photos were downloaded in total.
