If you are new to event planning then you might be yet to fully explore event marketing and the benefits to your brand that it can bring. This post will serve as a useful introduction to event marketing including what it is and the benefits of successful event marketing.

What is event marketing?

Event marketing involves planning and holding an event with the intention of promoting your brand, a specific product, or a service. All types of event marketing can take place in person or virtually.

Types of event marketing

Conferences

Conferences are usually large-scale events. They will be hosted by one company and usually are sponsored by smaller companies. Conferences normally have the most straightforward purpose and goals, with established speakers, workshops, and networking events.

Seminars

On the other hand, a seminar, or ‘webinar’ as they are often called when hosted online, is attended by a smaller group of people. A seminar usually involves important discussions about your company, products, or services, and provides important networking opportunities.

Launch events

Launch events are held when companies would like to really focus their attendee’s attention on a new product, or new business as a whole. Launch events often take the form of parties and are celebratory affairs. Amidst the party action, there is usually a presentation or speech from a key speaker to keep the event rooted in marketing and in the company.

Workshops

Workshops are similar in nature to seminars/webinars except they are more often open for the public to attend. There is usually a separate topic for a product being discussed but it will have some relevance to the company and their services to keep the nature of the event promotional.

Benefits of event marketing

Event marketing attracts business

Event marketing is so popular because events naturally create many business and networking opportunities. Even just getting people to sign up for your event creates a list of people that are actively engaging with your company, your products, and/or your services. This also gives you the opportunity to compile a mailing list to provide your target demographic with further marketing and information in the future.

Event marketing increases customer engagement

Today, business correspondence is predominately done online. Event marketing allows customers and clients to meet and network in person in a way that would not ordinarily occur. Meeting and conversing in person is much more personable and therefore also more memorable.

Event marketing increases brand visibility

Event marketing gives your business a physical presence and brand identity that customers can associate with you. This means that you can give your customers an immersive experience associated with your brand and your company, giving them a real feel for the heart of your company. If your customers feel personally touched by your company, then they are also more likely to talk about your brand and further spread your word.

Hopefully, this FAQ has given you a thorough introduction to event marketing as a tool for brand promotion.

To further the promotional reach of your event, we recommend adding event photography to your marketing strategy. A professional event photographer can capture your event, and therefore the information about your brand that you are sharing at your event. Excellent event marketing photos allow you to extend your brand marketing beyond the in-person event and onto social media.
